Description
St. Andrew's Monastery in the village of Andreevka, Saraktash district, was founded by the decision of the Holy Synod on July 17, 1998, through the labors and prayers of Schiarchimandrite Seraphim (Tomin), the founder of the monastery. The site for the monastery was blessed by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II and the miraculously chosen village of Andreevka is located on the edge of the Zilair plateau - at the foot of the Preduralsky ridge - in a mountainous area where the hot climate in summer is very reminiscent of Mount Athos, where Elder Seraphim (Tomin) saw his ministry. Where, according to the promise of his spiritual mother, the elder Zosimia Yennatskaya, he served in the Panteleimon Monastery and hoped that he would live until the end of his life. However, the Mother of God ordered it differently. And it was given to Father Seraphim to found the Athos Monastery in his homeland - St. Andrew's Monastery.
Over the years, the monastery has become a place of attraction for pilgrims from all over Russia, one of the main spiritual points on the map of Orenburg region.
There is a hotel for pilgrims in the monastery, and guests are always very welcome here.
After the service, over a meal, you can talk with the priest about various spiritual and pressing issues.
You can climb mount "Tabor" to help in the construction of the chapel on the mountain by lifting a brick with prayer - breathe in the fresh mountain steppe air, then walk to the source of St. Follow the winding path and refresh yourself.
In total, there are three large mountains near the monastery with crosses on their peaks, which are not so easy to climb - they are named after the famous Evangelical mountains - Athos, Mount Olivet and Tabor, with the light hand of Vladyka Leonty (Bondar).
Monasteries remote from large cities and capitals traditionally had farmsteads in these cities – subdivisions of the monastery outside its borders, created for missionary, economic, and representative purposes. On September 29, 2015, the establishment of the St. Andrew's Monastery in Orenburg was blessed by the ruling bishop, Metropolitan Valentin of Orenburg and Buzuluk (Mishchuk, at the Orenburg department from 1999 to October 2015). In the summer of 2016, the Orenburg administration allocated a site for construction at 8 G. Donkovtseva Street.
In 2017, the site began to be cleared for the construction of a church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Sign".
The rite performed at the foundation of the church and the installation of the cross was performed on July 5, 2018 by the ruling bishop, Metropolitan Veniamin of Orenburg and Saraktash. From that day on, active work began directly on the site of the future courtyard, in which are planned: a temple, a house for pilgrims, a refectory, cells for the brethren.
There is a house church of St. Vic in Orenburg. Panteleimon is in the house where Archimandrite Serafim (Tomin) lived and prayed at 37a Syzranskaya St.
