Description

It is a geological natural monument with an area of 69.5 hectares. Location of the monument: the northern section is 1.5 km to the northeast, the central section is 0.3 km to the southeast, and the southern section is 2 km south of the village of Berezovka. The object is a group of right- and left-bank cliffs above the Ural River. The combination of cliffs with birch forests forms a beautiful landscape and many places for a cozy rest on the river.

The cliffs are located near the village of Berezovka and 2 km to the south-east and south of it, the maximum height of the almost vertical walls of these cliffs is 30 m. The cliffs are stratigraphic sections of volcanogenic-sedimentary and sedimentary rocks of the so-called Berezovskaya formation of the Lower Carboniferous. Tuffs and lavas of andesite-basalt composition predominate among them, tuff sandstones, clay sandstones and clay-siliceous shales Typical petrophytes grow on the steep rocky slopes of the Berezovsky cliffs: prickly rock, hybrid ochitok, thyme Mugodzharsky, red onion, Altai resin. In the inaccessible lower parts of the cliffs, a small woodsia Elbe fern grows in the crevices of the rocks. Deep pools have formed in the bed of the Urals at the foot of the cliffs, where bream, walleye, burbot, ide live.

2.5 km north of the village of Brient, the Bakhtybai River (Yakshi-Akzhar), crossing an array of volcanogenic-sedimentary rocks of the Lower Carboniferous, forms a breakthrough valley with rocky sides 3.5 m high. The Brient Stone Gate is a classic example of the formation of modern river valleys in rocks.
