Description
On the mountain in the quarry there is a reference geological section of Upper Jurassic deposits enriched with marine fauna (ammonites, belemnites, etc.) - quartz and glauconite sandstones on flake cement, shell limestone.
A typical syrt ridge, which is emphasized by the name of the mountain. At the top there is a trigger point with a mark of 242.0 m. In the upper part there is a quarry for the extraction of crushed stone, which exposed the marine sediments of the Upper Jurassic. The following section fragment was uncovered in the side of the quarry 40 m from the trigger point at an azimuth of 295°:
0.0-2.2 m – fine-grained quartz sandstone on flake (siliceous) cement with pelecypods-trigonia, belemnite roasters and other fauna;
2.2-2.7 m – light grey limestone with manganese hydroxide dendrites along the cracks;
2.7-3.4 m quartz sandstone of a "cavernous" structure with glauconite grains;
3.4-5.6 m – yellowish-gray quartz sandstone on flake cement with numerous remains of fauna, mainly various mollusks (belemnites, ammonites, bivalves, etc.);
5.6-6.7 m (apparent thickness) – quartz-glauconite sandstone. There are sea urchin needles.
The reference geological section of the Upper Jurassic deposits. It is part of the "Sarygul Ridge" reference section, referred to by S.S. Neustruev and D.N. Sokolov. The place where students and schoolchildren conduct educational practices.
