Description
The Iriklinskaya hydroelectric power station is a hydroelectric power station on the Ural River in the Orenburg region, near the village of Iriklinsky.
The main task of the Iriklinsky hydroelectric complex is to regulate the flow of the Ural River to ensure guaranteed water supply to industrial enterprises and settlements. In particular, the large Iriklinskaya GRES is located on the Iriklinsky reservoir. Along the way, electricity is generated at the hydroelectric power station.
The construction of the Iriklinsky hydroelectric complex began in 1943 (although work began in 1941, but then was suspended due to the war). The construction was carried out in difficult conditions, with a shortage of equipment. The HPP units were commissioned in 1958. Filling of the reservoir began on April 17, 1958 and ended on May 8, 1966.
