Description
Lake Cholernoye is one of the notable points of "Buzuluksky Bor" National Park. It is located about 20 km north of Buzuluk, in the Borovka River area.
This place attracts not so much with its exoticism as with its quiet forest beauty: in fact, this is not a natural lake, but an artificial pond. In the middle of the 20th century, the stream was dammed with two dams, which is how the Verkhnekholerny and Nizhnekholerny reservoirs appeared. The water here is clear, the bottom is muddy, and the dense forest along the banks is beautifully reflected in the calm surface; it is convenient to camp in a cozy clearing during a walk, and lovers of hiking trails will enjoy the nearby art trail. There are fish in the pond — fishing is allowed, and the corner itself is great for relaxing in nature.
The name of the place is shrouded in legends: according to some legends, it is associated with cholera epidemics among migrants or prisoners of war, according to others — with an almost miraculous story about the healing power of water supposedly containing silver; however, there is no documentary evidence of these stories.
