Buzuluk, Troitskiy Park

Description

Troitskiy Park in Buzuluk is a cozy green area in the very center of the city, where history is organically intertwined with a modern leisure space.

Once upon a time, at this place, at the intersection of Maxim Gorky, Chapaev and Lenin streets, stood the Trinity Cathedral, the main temple of Buzuluk, built in 1847 in the style of late classicism; it was considered an ornament of the Samara and Orenburg provinces, and its dome was decorated with the image of the Holy Trinity. In Soviet times, the cathedral was closed and dismantled, and in its place a square was laid out, which later became Lenin Park; in 2015 it was renamed Troitskiy, as the city carefully restored the memory of its past.

Today, the park is not just a place for walking: there is a chapel of the Trinity of the Life—Giving, monuments to the founder of the Buzuluk fortress Ivan Kirilov and the painter Philip Malyavin, a fountain, a metal arch and a composition with an eagle — creations of local masters Dushakov, and there is also a "bench for reconciliation" and a playground. Shady alleys lined with lime trees, willows, fir trees and rowan trees create a calm atmosphere, and sculptural compositions and architectural details make the park popular with both townspeople and tourists — newlyweds often come here to take memorable pictures, and city guests to experience the spirit of Buzuluk.
