Memorial "Bell of Memory"

Memorial "Bell of Memory"
At the top of the hill, at the entrance to the city of Mednogorsk, there is a memorial that cannot be passed.
the city of Mednogorsk

Description

It was opened in 2017 with public money, that is, funds were allocated for its creation by enterprises and activists of Mednogorsk. The monument consists of three parts and unites three sad events from the history of our country.

The largest part of the memorial is an open chapel with a bell. Under its roof, as under the dome of the church, the faces of Jesus Christ, George the Victorious, the holy righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov and the Great Martyr Evgeny Rodionov are depicted. It was established back in 2002 on the initiative of the Mednogorians who went through the war in Afghanistan. The idea of the building is that the bell can be rung by anyone who wishes to honor the memory of those who died in Afghanistan, Chechnya and during the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident. The memorial is dedicated to these three terrible events.

To the left of the chapel is a huge granite book, as if telling us about the fate of those who stood up for our country. Above, we see a black tulip forged from metal by craftsmen from Orsk. The black tulip represents the death of soldiers in Afghanistan. A flower tragically grows out of a shell casing, reminding us that a weapon always brings death.

On the right is a granite block with a plaque depicting radiation rays piercing a drop. This is a monument dedicated to the liquidators of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.

With the monument, the residents of the city wanted to express their gratitude to all those who gave their lives for the well-being of their hometown and country.
