Description
In Perovsky Park, from the side of Zwilling Street, you can see a large, human-sized "doggie" (@): this symbol is used in network services to separate the user name from the domain name. The most notable, but not the only, application of the "doggie" is email addresses, for example, in the somebody@example.com "somebody" – the user's name, "example.com " – domain name. The reason for this is the second meaning of the English preposition "at" – an indication of location, that is somebody@example.com it should be read as "somebody on example.com ". Programmer Ray Tomlinson first proposed using this symbol in November 1971, when he sent the world's first such email (email itself existed before Tomlinson, but he was the first to suggest using "@" to separate the name and domain). On September 11, 2014, an unusual metal art object was inaugurated with the participation of Evgeny Arapov, head of the Orenburg City Administration, and Denis Zelentsov, his first deputy.
