Description
The initiator of the creation of an unusual piggy bank monument was the Orenburg organization "Give them Life". ""Thanks to the activists, as well as with the support of the city administration, "Echo of Moscow in Orenburg" radio station, "Region" TV company and Igor Korovyakovsky, deputy of the Orenburg City Council, the installation of the art object became possible in the pedestrian zone.
Funds for the monument were collected for about a year. Together we have gained 400 thousand rubles. This sum was used to pay for the development of the sketch, casting of the monument from bronze and its installation. The monument, made by the "Plast" art factory, is a bronze figure of a dog about 60 cm high. The sculpture is placed on a base made in the form of a manhole. There is a slot in the hatch, into which anyone can drop a monetary donation. The pedestal is an anti-vandal piggy bank with a key. The opportunity to open it and collect the collected funds was provided by the city public organization for the protection of animals.
The opening was timed to coincide with the International Animal Rights Day, established in 1998. It is noteworthy that in 2018 a similar piggy bank monument appeared in Tomsk. It was installed on the shore of Mavlyukeevsky Lake near the dormitory of Tomsk State University. The cast-iron figure weighing 200 kg was made in Orenburg.
