London Cafe - a real English pub in the very center of Orenburg

Warming drinks, powerful burgers, English cuisine, delicious coffee and a friendly atmosphere!

The famous story of how Yuri Gagarin violated etiquette at a reception with Queen Elizabeth II by eating lemon from tea is just a popular myth.

What really happened in 1961?
Gagarin's visit to the UK was unofficial.According to the memoirs and interviews of other guests (for example, comedian Bud Flanagan), coffee was served at the reception, which completely refutes the basis of the legend.

Where did this story come from? She has a real prototype, but it's connected to another Soviet officer. Lieutenant Commander Vetoshkin, who was invited to the Queen with a group of sailors after World War II, did exactly that — he took out and ate a lemon from a cup. And the queen, according to recollections, as a sign of respect for the guests, supported him and did the same.

Over time, this colorful but forgotten story about a sailor was mistakenly attributed to the world-famous Gagarin, which gave rise to a beautiful but unreliable myth.

In honor of this legend, a special Gagarin coffee is prepared in a London pub. We invite you to try it!
