Discover the secret of the amazing technique, the name of which comes from the French point – "point"! You will learn how a whole picture is born from a multitude of small dots: in the pointe technique, an image is built by optical mixing of colors – individual dots of pure colors form smooth transitions and new shades from a distance.

Under the guidance of Oksana Valeryevna Orlovskaya, an art school teacher, you will learn about the history of pointillism and understand the principle of optical mixing using illustrative examples. And then you will try to create an author's work yourself: you will start with a simple sketch and, step by step, assemble a composition of dots and short strokes.

Different tools are suitable for work – you can experiment and choose the most convenient one.:

• Cotton swabs are an ideal option for beginners: it's easy to put neat dots with them.;
• stick bundles – to apply groups of dots at once and create interesting rhythms.;
• A flat brush is used for expressive rectangular strokes.

You can use gouache, watercolor or acrylic in your work – each material will give its own effect.

We will conclude the meeting with a creative analysis: together we will discuss the works, note the most successful artistic solutions and think about how we can develop the techniques we have found. You will receive feedback and will be able to immediately apply the tips in the following works.
